Kingdom Hearts - Two Drabbles
Title: Worthy
Genre: angst
Pairing: Riku/Sora
Summary: Riku was jealous of his new friends.
Notes: Takes place early in KH1
Against his will, he was pulled away from talking to Sora and his strange new friends. He was about to break free from Maleficent’s grip when she whispered, “Watch Sora’s reaction to your disappearance, Riku.”
He didn’t want to disappear but he was curious about it, because deep down something hurt from seeing Sora with new friends.
Right before his eyes he watched as Sora looked around for him, and then gave up his search to walk away with those friends. Something like pain pierced his heart at the sight. Didn’t Sora care more than that?
His feelings were exemplified by the voice in his ear, telling him how Sora found a replacement for him… that he was expendable in Sora’s eyes. Unbidden tears stung from behind his eyes. He had been looking for Sora; he realized on his journey that the only thing he truly wanted was to be reunited with Sora again, and he found other people?
Jealousy, anger and pain flared up in him all at once, and he glared at Sora’s direction. A lone tear fell down his cheek as he turned to Maleficent. If he wasn’t worthy of Sora, then Sora wasn’t worthy of him.

Summary: Sora really misses Riku.
Notes: Takes place later in KH2
Sora couldn’t stop the grin from forming when he saw Sally and Jack Skellington starting to dance, after a very loving conversation. Sora had always been a sucker for mushy stuff, which Riku always teased him about.
Riku…
The grin fell a little when he contemplated his lost friend. He had been searching desperately for him, but only once had he truly felt his presence. The prolonged absence was killing him.
He put up a smiling front, of course. He didn’t want to worry Donald and Goofy, who were now his very good friends. But they could never replace Riku.
An image came to his mind, unbidden. Instead of Sally and Jack, Sora and Riku were dancing, smiling and laughing together. They were so happy.
Sora wanted it so, so much.
His grin reached new heights as his skin flushed gleefully at the reverie. It didn’t escape Donald’s attention. He looked smugly up at him. “I know who you’re thinking about!”
Sora blinked, shaking himself out of his daze. He touched the back of his head, embarrassed. “Is it that obvious?” Both Donald and Goofy nodded vigorously, and Sora laughed.
He turned away, and looked up to the night sky, with the multitudes of stars blinking down at him. “Riku,” he whispered, not catching Donald’s shocked expression, as determination filled up in him, “I’m going to find you. No matter what it takes. Then we can dance.”

I played the part in Pirates of the Caribbean world today when Donald says "I know who you're thinking about." I couldn't help but cry out "Riku!" *glee*
Anyway! I liked both drabbles. They were kind of linked, in the sense that the first was Riku thinking Sora didn't need him and the second Sora needing Riku. Ironic, slightly. :D *pictures Riku and Sora dancing* Hehe.

Thank you! And yay, someone caught on to that! I didn't directly say it, but yes, they were intended to be companion pieces, hence why they were posted together.
In the game Sora dances with Kairi, and my mind seriously protested, so this happened. xD Cute imagery, isn't it?
