Hello flist,

I am super tired right now but am in need for some input ASAP so I'll make this short and sweet (though I will try to post about my actual life later): I currently have this car on hold at a dealership.

It's a 2003 Volkswagen Passat Wagon with under 100,000 miles. Ignore the price on the page; we reached a deal with the dealer to buy it for $6k, fees and tax included, a significant price saving from the listed $7k sale price excluding fees and tax.

I admit that I never really saw myself driving a wagon but it's been really difficult to find a decent car under 100k miles in my price range and this seems like a decent deal. I ordered the Carfax report and it has been in an accident, but it doesn't seem to have been a major one because another person bought the car and drove it for years afterward. We're gonna get it checked out by a mechanic either way though.

So I'm basically just looking for any kind of opinions about this - do you think this is a good deal? Do you or anyone you know have any kind of experience with this car? I'm doing my own research but having the input of my friends will make a HUGE difference, so I'd appreciate it if you could take a moment to think it over for me. Thank you!!

This is exactly what I was going to say. VW's are awesome cars, but they do require premium gas, which in California sucks.

When I was looking for cars I was able to find some in that price range- Ford Focus, Nissan Sentra's with fairly low mileage and not too old.
